ARTICLE 3: FITVIDS FIT Magazine Rates the Latest Exercise Tape By Margaret Hundley Parker reviewed June 2001
Rating System: 5**** head over heels 4**** it must be love 3*** fun for a while 2** no chemistry 1* head for the hills PILATES POISE by Geri Arnais An Intelligent Mat Technique 50 Minutes Limbs Productions, Oak Park, CA **** This is a Pilates workout, straight up. The name “Pilates” was just recently ruled in court as being generic, not a trademarked name; therefore anyone can use the name to define their classes, tapes, etc.
The videostar, Geri, gives a cult-leader type pep talk about the mat work. She dispenses advice like a seasoned motivational speaker. It’s all very West Coast. The workout itself is paired down to the essentials. It’s just two women exercising –no music or fancy lights cluttering it up. Geri and pal plop down on a coupla mats and bust out moves like “The Hundred”. It’s challenging mat work that concentrates on the belly. All the moves take place while you’re on your back, or your front, and they involve lifting legs or twisting to lengthen your muscles and tone your gut.
It’s a good Pilates workout, Rating: 4 star, but if you have the means, get thy booty to a Pilates class. They make you feel good.
